Do Refill Kits Really Work and Help Save on Toner & Ink Cartridges?
By: Nitzan Daphna
A refill kit is a do-it-yourself kit designed to help you with directly injecting the ink into the cartridge. A refill kit is manufactured with endless colors and with the best raw materials for the purpose of giving excellent printouts and can be used on all printers, any brand. Refill kits are a smarter choice for anybody looking to save on ink and toner cartridges.
Refill kits are a low cost substitute to buying new cartridges. When you buy an ink or toner cartridge, do not throw them away. Instead, refill them with refill kits and you can save up to 90% over buying a new cartridge again. Use of refill kits also helps in saving our landfills. The process of refilling is not at all expensive and very much safe for your printers. When you buy a refill kit, you get along a refill instructions booklet. You can also get refill accessories but with a little extra cost. However, the refill accessories come along with refill kits as they are necessary for refilling. Generally, a refill kit comes with a cartridge holder, bottles of ink and needles to draw back air from the cartridge. It depends on manufacturer to manufacturer and brand to brand whether they come with the exact tools or not.
Some of the most common refill kits colors are…… Black ink for black refill kits, Cyan, magenta, yellow ink for color refill kits, photo cyan, photo magenta, photo black for photo color refill kits, and or combination of all colors for combo refill kits. You should always choose the color that best suits your cartridge.
Certainly, you choose refill kits just to save some money. The average price of refill kits varies from $10-20 which normally lasts till 6-7 refills. Depending on this, you could buy a new cartridge for about $5, versus the $25-30 you would pay at a superstore for a new one. It takes about 10-15 minutes to refill a cartridge for those who are unfamiliar to it and this is one of the negative sides of refill kits. Ink and toner cartridges usually last for 4-5 refills, but there are those that can only be refilled one time before they are worn out.
However, there is a lot of mess in refilling the cartridge. Most of the refill kits manufactured in the past were so called universal kits because these refill kits were designed for multiple cartridge use. These refill kits were unsuccessful as all manufacturers use different types of ink, and because different cartridge designs require different refilling processes. It is really difficult to find these refill kits today as refill kits made for specific cartridges have become more the norm, but perceptions that all refill kits are messy still exists.
Refilling a cartridge also benefits the environment. This is because you are re-using a cartridge which would have been instead thrown away in one use. Refill kits come with various levels of inks and in different sizes. The sudden growth of large chain of superstores supplying cartridge inks is the reason for a decline in refill kits. However, opting for refill kits proves to be exceptionally beneficial for everyone.
